1-26-2023 A Tale of Schumann and Chou Chou.
Recently I did a podcast for the Candlelight Concert Society on Robert Schumann’s masterpiece Kreisleriana. The piece is inspired by E. T. A. Hoffmann’s writings about his fictional alter ego the Kapellmeister Johannes Kreisler.
The work is also influenced by Hoffmann’s writings about the tomcat Murr, with whom and by accident, Kreisler shares his biography.
Therefore it was only natural that I share the podcast with our cat Chou Chou (named for Debussy’s daughter Claude Emma) who shares her appreciation for Kreisleriana at the end of the podcast! I think E. T. A. Hoffmann and Schumann would approve.
