3-10-18 Music In Maryland Nikolai Lugansky is Comin to Town!

By Jonathan Palevsky | Posted in Host Blogs, Music In Maryland | No Comments

You better watch out because a fabulous pianist is coming to town to play with the BSO next week!  I have had the pleasure of hearing Nikolai Lugansky in Italy on one of the WBJC tours and he is pretty fabulous.  He will be playing the epic Prokofiev Piano Concerto # 2.  The Orchestra will be conducted by Lahav Shani who was just named Music Director of the Israeli Philharmonic.  Also on the program Schubert’s Great C Major Symphony.  We didn’t have Lugansky playing Prokofiev 2 so I substituted Vladimir Ashkenazy!  Lugansky’s recording of Rakhmaninov’s first concerto is more than fine as is the Vienna Philharmonic and Solti playing Schubert!

Enjoy!
