This week I continue our series of programs on the history of the Baltimore Symphony. My guest is author and second oboist of the orchestra Michael Lisicky. In addition to discussing the years with Yuri we also play many of the recordings made during his tenure. Music includes excerpts from Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition, Ravel’s La Valse, excerpts from Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess, a selection from Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet and finally the complete Rakhmaninov Second Symphony. These were heady years for the BSO I hope you can listen in and enjoy the music and our discussion.
