8-3-15 Word On Wine House of Mandela Thembu Collection

By Jonathan Palevsky | Posted in Host Blogs, Word on Wine | No Comments

This week Mary and I continue our sampling of House of Mandela Wines with The Thembu Collection.  These wines are Fair Trade and the winery was opened by Nelson Mandela’s daughter and grand daughter to honor him.  The Thembu Collection will be very visible on the shelf of your local wine store because they used the colorful dashikis of Nelson Mandela on the labels.  We sampled two wines both were $15.

1)2013 Thembu Collection Chenin Blanc.  Opulent and fruity.

2)2014 Cabernet Sauvignon.  A bit of pepper, some tobacco and leather…but not too heavy.

Here’s our show…enjoy.  Thanks also to Ken Ross for making the wines available to us.
