5-23-15 Music In Maryland Peabody Honors Ensembles
This week Music in Maryland features a February 28, 2015, concert by the Peabody Honors Ensembles recorded at Peabody Institute’s Goodwin Hall .
Our first group the Trio Phoenix performed the Beethoven Piano Trio No. 5 in D major, Op. 70, No. 1 (“Ghost”). Our performers were Alan Choo, violin; Tzu-Jou Yeh, cello; and Akkra Yeunyonghattaporn, piano.
Our second piece from the same concert was the Brahms Piano Trio No. 2 in C op. 87 performed by the Meridian Trio: Nikita Borisevich, violin; Jacques-Pierre Malan, cello; Margarita Loukachkina, piano.
To fill I used the Weinberg Symphony No. 6 with Vladimir Lande conducting the St. Petersburg State Symphony Orchestra (Naxos Recording) and some Elgar Enigma Variations transcribed for reeds featuring The Atlantic Reed Consort. (Super nice transcription).
Happy Memorial Day!
