1-26-15 Word On Wine Review…2 Bottles Of Eve!

Mary Zajac and I have had problems getting together to taste so we decided to solve the problem by getting together with a bunch of wine and our mutual partners!  This week we have two white wines which didn’t behave at all as they should have!

1)2012 Charles Smith ‘Eve” Chardonnay.  Columbia Valley Washington!  $14!  Both Mary and I thought this would be rather ripe and a bit blowsy!  Nothing could be further from the truth!  This wine was tight lemony acidic and Burgundian.  We liked it a lot.  I also found the label unattractive which endeared the wine to me even more.  I wonder if the cooler climate of the Columbia Valley produces an effect on the vines similar to that of Burgundy.  Definitely worth trying.

2)2012 Chateau Musar Jeune Blanc.  A blend of Viognier, Vermentino and Chardonnay.  Bekaa Valley Lebanon.  $22  We all thought that this wine would be bold and busty…considering the grapes used…However it was a little thin…and considering the price rather disappointing.

I guess the point of this show is that things don’t always go the way you think they will!
