Longtime WBJC listener and successful local musician Charlie Barnett–whose career has included orchestral and film composing, jazz performance, and much more–has now turned his creative skills to the theatrical stage. He has written book, lyrics, and music for a new musical, True North, that will have its very first public reading at 8pm on Saturday, February 18th.

The piece, which Charlie described in his conversation with me as a magical excursion into an enchanted realm mostly in waltz-time in an homage to Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein III, will be performed, free, by faculty and students from the Catholic University Musical Theater Department. The reading is on the CUA campus, in Ward Hall, and offers free parking as well.
