Credit card update

By Diana Ross | Posted in Host Blogs, Membership, WBJC News | 1 Comment

We are in the final phase of the contract negotiation and are awaiting the final signature by the college. Once that happens, we will furiously click a few buttons and credit card processing will be back online.

We had really hoped to have everything running at the very latest by Giving Tuesday (Dec 1) but we’ve missed that deadline.

We simply can’t wait any longer to fundraise. You’ve probably heard the announcements to mail in a check or request an envelope. If we can’t recoup some of the funds we have missed from the skipped Fall Drive and two months of Sustainer monies (thank you to the great number of you who sent in checks!) we will not end the fiscal year with a balanced budget.

WBJC has made its budget every year since 1987. This is a source of pride for all of us here at WBJC and a testament to our member loyalty. We are very frugal with your donations and the one year we were in jeopardy of being in the red (2008 – Great Recession), we tightened our belts and found a way to cut a major chunk out of spending.

This year, we are in in a precarious position. We are $300,000 behind where we normally are at this point in the year. We’ll be trying to make up this over the next 6 months, but right now, December is out most crucial month.

You, our stalwart members and listeners, make your end of year tax-deductible contributions in December. If we miss this opportunity to ask for funds, we will be even further behind!

We know writing checks is a pain and that many of you no longer keep checkbooks! Did you know your bank will often print and mail a check on your behalf? Those of you with Donor Advised Funds can direct your bank to mail us a check. Money Orders (the Post Office as well as your bank still offer these) are another alternative.

Checks made payable to “WBJC-FM” can be mailed to PO Box 22342, Baltimore MD 21203-4342

Please don’t wait any longer for credit cards. We can’t!
