WBJC is mobile!

By Diana Ross | Posted in WBJC News | Comments Off on WBJC is mobile!

Have you ever wanted to just have Word on Wine on your phone or tablet without having to turn on your computer, hunt down our website, and navigate to the latest show?

If you have an iPhone/Pad, Android smartphone or tablet, or the Kindle you have a choice of several free apps that can scan WBJC’s blog and bring any updates directly to your mobile device. This means Word on Wine can come to you instead of you having to go to the website to find it!

One app called Feedly is getting a lot of love now that Google Reader has been retired… some of you might like Flipboard better as it also pulls from Twitter, Facebook and Google+, but Flipboard won’t work on your desktop computer.

Basically, you’ll be looking for any RSS feed reader that works for you.  Pretty much any app that can pull from Facebook or Twitter can pull an RSS feed.

Once you have your app of choice, plug in our main feed URL:

http://www.wbjc.com/feed/

This feed will get you everything.  EVERYTHING! Including Word on Wine, interviews, host blogs, Evening Concerts, holiday programs and the Daily Playlist.  You will have to refresh the list on your reader to get the current listings as they update, but you’re still getting the PLAYLIST on your PHONE! That’s got to be a useful thing to have at your fingertips.

If you just want the Hosts’ blog posts, use:

http://www.wbjc.com/category/host-blogs/feed/

This feed will get you anything posted by the hosts, including Word on Wine and Face the Music info.

If you’d rather only get Word on Wine, use this URL:

http://http.wbjc.com/category/wbjc-programs/word-on-wine/feed/

I subscribed to the general feed and this is what Feedly displays:

On my smartphone it only displays one post at a time, or multiples in List View.

If there’s a feed you want, let’s say you only want opera posts to come to you, shoot me a note below, or email me and I’ll get you the URL!
