A political drama tinged with romance and laments, Handel’s Ariodante holds its own as a Baroque opera gem. The libretto was inspired by Ariosto’s Olrando furioso and the music teems with some of Handel’s best arias. Ariodante was performed in 2025 by the Pygmalion Ensemble and the Paris Opera Chorus, featuring Cecilia Molinari in the titular role.
