In celebration of Jane Austen's 250th birthday, and to add some spice to family holiday celebrations, Compass Rose Theater in Annapolis is staging an adaptation of Pride and Prejudice by Emma Whipday.
Whipday's lean adaptation puts fun and family at the forefront. Performances run from November 14th through December 14th, with tickets, show times, and more information available at compassrosetheater.org.
The production's director, Compass Rose Artistic Director Madeline Austin, joined Gavin Witt for a wide-ranging conversation about this adaptation, including some of the fun discoveries and unexpected resonances that came from double-casting several of the roles, as well as the personal connection she brings to the piece as one of a gaggle of sisters.
