Enjoy a memorable Memorial Day with Maestro Ulysses James and the Washington Philharmonic Orchestra as they perform the final concerts of their season with nearly All American composers! Let your mind soar to the mountains while listening to Elinor Remick Warren’s “Crystal Lake”. Imagine summer evenings in small town parks across America with John Corigliano’s “Gazebo Dances”. Allow the Washington Saxophone Quartet to showcase many styles of saxophone music as they join the WMPO in Canadian composer Sid Robinovitch’s “Concerto for Saxophone Quartet and Orchestra”. Embrace the richness and subtlety of Florence Price’s work while soloist Marlisa Woods performs her “Violin Concerto No. 2”. As with all concerts this “Focus on Americana” season, gifted Soprano Elizabeth Kluegel opens with three familiar American songs. Free parking. Tickets $25; children always free.
