Silver Screen Rarities Come to Silver Spring

This coming weekend, the AFI Silver Theatre and Cultural Center in Silver Spring presents their Silver Classic Film Weekend featuring cinematic rarities, silent films with live music, and pre-code pictures from the 1920’s and 1930’s. Festival guest speakers will include noted film historians, critics, and screenwriters. Last week, I had the pleasure of catching up with my friend Farran Smith Nehme, who will be presenting several of the films. In addition to the accomplishments I mentioned in the interview, she’s the author of the novel Missing Reels and you can read her work on Substack, where she writes as the Self-Styled Siren.
