  • Herman Heyn says:

Your Shostakovich history was terrific. You’re right about his 9th
symphony. If it disappointed Stalin, it has disappointed every subsequent listener,as well. (The Peabody Orchestra played it last year.) At your program’s
opening you played a fragment of his glorious UN Anthem. I wish you had played
all of it and talked about it. I sung it class at Garrison Junior High, and I have the score today.I sometimes play it on my accordion. Several yrs. ago I gave a copy to the BCC UN Club. Don’t know if it tried it. Anyhow. thanks for an exceptional overview of the great composer’s life and music!
