As many of our volunteers know, I love fiber! Back in Pledge Central during any given Drive, I’ll be spinning yarn on a spindle or knitting a small thing like a sock. Many of the phone volunteers love to bring their projects to work on as well. I’ve posted here on the WBJC blog about some of my fibery pursuits in hopes that there’s a cross-section of classical music lovers who also play with yarn. (psssst, there *is*!)
If you haven’t already been to Cloverhill Yarn Shop in Catonsville, or if it’s been awhile, you should stop by Saturday June 28th for their 1st Anniversary and Fashion Show. Last year, ownership changed hands and new owners Wae and Amanda have set about making Cloverhill *THE* place to buy yarn, take a knitting or spinning class, or hang out for one of the informal knitting or spinning nights throughout the month. (You’ll find me there on most spinning Fridays, sometimes with wine!)
The Fashion Show runs 1pm-4pm next door to the shop (which is located at 77 Mellor Ave, Catonsville, MD 21228) and will feature hand knitted, crocheted and woven items by patrons of the store!
And for any of you who want to take up a yarn-craft in an informal setting (they also offer classes and one-on-one lessons), take a look at their calendar and stop on in. There is always someone present who’s happy to
enable help (especially me if you want to start spinning!)
