Shriver Hall Concert Series
Sunday, October 6, 2013 | Start Time: 5:30 PM
Shriver Hall | Baltimore
In a special tribute to the Series’ Board President Jephta Drachman and her father, legendary cellist Gregor Piatigorsky, we present cellist Mischa Maisky and his daughter Lily Maisky. Maisky has the distinction of being the only cellist in the world to have studied with both Mstislav Rostropovich and Gregor Piatigorsky. Rostropovich has lauded Mischa Maisky as “… one of the most outstanding talents of the younger generation of cellists. His playing combines poetry and exquisite delicacy with great temperament and brilliant technique.” Performing Schubert’s deeply touching “Arpeggione” Sonata, Falla’s Suite Populaire Espagnole, and a second half consisting of Russian Romances, Maisky’s return to Shriver Hall promises to be most magical season opener!
