Maestro Gajewski, Music Director & Conductor of the National Philharmonic at Strathmore, will discuss Wagner’s role in advancing German opera from Beethoven and Weber to Strauss and Berg. In addition, he will examine the role of the orchestra in Wagner’s operas and the musical themes that drive the drama. The talk will also serve as an introduction to the National Philharmonic’s 200th Anniversary Celebration of Wagner on June 1, 2013, at 8:00 pm at the Music Center at Strathmore.
