Winter drive wrap-up!

By Diana Ross | Posted in Staff Blogs, WBJC News | 8 Comments

Thank you so very much to each and every one of you who called in your pledge of support during last week’s Winter Pledge Drive! Thank you also for your patience while we all adjusted to a new computer system. This was a major upgrade to how we do business, and will make our drives more streamlined. Case in point, we would normally be hand-processing the 800+ credit card pledges over the next two weeks, but thanks to our volunteers and this new system, they are already done!

This week we’re sending out the “Bill Me” pledges, we are already printing the acknowledgements, and next week we’ll probably start mailing out the premiums we have in stock. (If you didn’t already choose your premium, a list will come with your letter, and you can just send your selection back to us in the envelope, or call the Membership Office.)

And now, the numbers…

The Winter Buyback Campaign raised $67,517.10, so we were able to chop Saturday off the drive.

Winter Drive Goal (for the 3 remaining days): $99,000

Total number of Drive pledges: 932
Total Drive amount raised: $115,774.00

of that…

80 were online pledges and 238 were NEW members

This was a truly fabulous and successful pledge drive! We want to add a special thanks to our Food Donors, Volunteers, and Franco and Ron on the IT team for all their hard work. We wouldn’t have been so successful without every one of you!

Your fantastic tribute to Mozart was a truly inspiring tool for my contribution. It seems that you are playing more of Mozart than in the past, much more would be a great desire with a lot less of 20th century “stuff” a plus.
Thanks for a good overall job.

Congratulations, WBJC, on a fantastic fund drive. I dearly love listening to the station whenever I am in the area visiting family.

  • JANE Buxton Brown says:

WOULD YOU ALL CONSIDER A FUND DRIVE HONORING OUR PETS, PAST AND PRESENT? CATS, DOGS, AND SO FORTH. I THINK IT WOULD BE INTERESTING TO SEE THE VARIETY OF PETS YOUR VERY SPECIAL AUDIENCE HAS. WE CAN HONOR THEM WITH PRAISE AND LOVELY MEMORIES. PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK OF THIS IDEA? LOVE, LOVE, LOVE

Jane, we do often get and read memorial messages from people honoring their pets during a regular drive. I’m very sure we’re not looking to add *more* pledge drives, but we’re happy to read the messages that come in during the ones we have!

Here’s a plug for not increasing music by Mozart. Music is emotional so keep playing works from the Impressionists thru the 20th Century. Many of us like that “stuff”.

Hey WBJC is the best. I love to hear the history of the composers. I play it all day at work and everyone comments on how peaceful it is in my office. Love it! no harsh commercials to get on my nerves. I wrote in Mark Malinowski in the vote for radio personality for Baltimore’s Best by the Sun Papers.

Hey thanks everybody! As to the Mozart vs. Modern debate, this is a prime example of not being able to please 100% of people 100% of the time. 🙂 I really can’t weigh in on how much we’re playing/not playing… But I don’t believe there has been any real policy change on how much modern stuff the hosts are able to play. That’s a JP question. I’m just the membership lackey!
