This gentleman is Klaus Wittauer.  Klaus is a passionate advocate for Austrian wines and Mary and I are right there with him!  We tasted some wines together and then asked Klaus if he would navigate the Thanksgiving table wine challenge!  So many different types of food requires versatile and interesting wines.

His first recommendation was the Steininger Grand Gru…Not grand cru…but Gru for Gruner Veltliner…please excuse my lack of umlauts!  This had lots of fruit and good body.  A definite winner!Next was an excellent Mittelbach Zweigelt rose.  This was also a winner.  This is a rose that is made to be exactly just that.  At around $12 a steal!

Last but not least was the Anton Bauer Blaufrankish “Artist”  2013.  Only 14 barrels were made but fortunately they are in the USA waiting for us to drink them!

If your wine merchant doesn’t have these you can order them through Siema Wines.  Finally here’s our show!
