Ending just before 12:30am on 11March there was a symphony played. I think Sir Colin Davis was the conductor, and I believe it was a 5th symphony. It was very discordant, but beautiful none the less. What was the title? I looked on the overnight programming page, but what it listed wasn’t what played. It had an orchestra with piano. Thank you.
This was the Symphony No. 4 by Charles Ives, which actually does have a piano here and there. Alan Gilbert conducted the New York Philharmonic. The piece by Sir Colin Davis was the piece after it. This was part of the New York Philharmonic syndicated concert series, and to my knowledge is not available for purchase or download. However, other recordings of this symphony are available. The program was actually listed on our web site, but under “WBJC Evening Concerts” in the program menu, not on the daily playlist.
