12/08/12 – WBJC Klezmer Special – 9pm
Join Jonathan Palevsky for a musical celebration of Hanukkah with spirited klezmer works performed by contemporary ensembles.
Wikipedia says: “klezmer is ‘a combination of Hebrew words: kli, meaning ‘a useful or prepared instrument, tool, or utensil’ and zemer, meaning ‘to make music’; leading to k’li zemer כְּלִי זֶמֶר, literally ‘vessels of song’ = ‘musical instrument’.” Klezmer music originated in Eastern Europe and is influenced heavily by the Romanian music style with some influence from Greece, Turkey and the Ukraine.

Glad to read that this program broadcasts after Shabbat. Your sechel is appreciated.
We hope you enjoy!
Hear, hear! We indeed look forward to your program every year!
I love Jonathan Palevski, and one of my family’s favorite Christmas traditions is listening to the annual Klezmer Special! Do you think that you could rebroadcast previous years’ specials for the remaining nights of Hanukkah?
I’d been waiting for this all week, but wasn’t feeling well, Saturday evening, and slept through it. I assume it isn’t technically/financially possible, at this point, but I wish you could also make your special programs available on your website in recorded form. WBJC means so much to our entire family. Thank you.
The best of the season,
William Reid
(probably your only member currently resident in North Dakota–I want to come home!)
oh no! I’m so sorry you missed it William. Sadly, we cannot put music on the website for on-demand stream or download. I like Beth’s idea of re-broadcasting it. I’ll shoot JP an email and see what we can do. If we can, I’ll post it to the website

the Klezmer show is a one-shot broadcast.
