Social Networking

By Mark Malinowski | Posted in Host Blogs | 2 Comments

What an amazing world we live in. Using media like Facebook and Twitter, one can communicate with people you don’t even know, who are halfway around the world. It’s funny, but you can see people everywhere you go “Tweeting” away on their smart phones, sending messages, making comments, and communicating with people in California, London, Tokyo. All the while totally oblivious to everyone around them. Makes you wonder.

There’s a video on Youtube of a lady walking through a mall texting away on her phone. She walks without ever looking up and goes face-first into the mall fountain! Full-body, not any part of her spared, and certainly not her pride!

Yes, it does make one wonder and sometimes wander into mall fountains! Has social networking made us closer with those far away and far away from those who are close to us? I warily appreciate social media for fear of becoming overwhelmed and isolated from what is really happening around me. At the same time there is so much going on outside of my own little world. Balance in all things, I guess.

Thanks Mark for your thought provoking post! Diana thanks for the laugh!
